About us
One child changed the direction of our lives
Ten years ago we were parents trying to understand the world of a little girl who needed more support than we knew how to give.
Our story
There were appointments, assessments, therapies, questions and many moments of uncertainty.
There were also people. A therapist who helped us understand. A teacher who saw possibility. A professional who offered guidance. Ordinary people who simply chose to care.
We began to realise this journey was never meant to be walked alone.
As our experience grew, so did our awareness of other families facing similar challenges. One family introduced us to another. One child led us to another. We helped where we could — connecting children with assessments, therapy, activities and opportunities.
We didn’t have all the answers. We still don’t. But we discovered something we were good at: bringing the right people together. That became the heart of Acts of Kindness.
From one child to many
In 2025 we supported around 30 children on a needs basis. There was no big programme — we simply responded as needs arose.
In 2026 we took another step. We began homeschooling and opened a small AOK Tutor Centre where a handful of children now learn and grow together. At the same time we continue connecting families with therapists, medical professionals, educators, activities and opportunities beyond the centre.
We are still small and our resources are limited. Yet we have seen what happens when the right people gather around a child: confidence grows, a new skill emerges, a parent finds hope, and a door that seemed closed opens.
See our impactWhat we have learned
We are not therapists, doctors or formal educators. We are parents who have spent ten years learning from extraordinary professionals, remarkable families, incredible children and ordinary people who chose to care.
Kindness does not have to be complicated. Someone said yes. Someone cared. Someone opened a door.
That is the story we hope to continue — not a place where we have all the answers, but a Village where the right people come together around a child and a family.
Our journey in moments
Acts of Kindness has grown through people, not plans on paper. One need led to another. One person offered help and that help opened a door.
It began with one child
Parents learning a new world one appointment at a time — and the professionals and neighbours who chose to walk it with them.
Opportunities that were out of reach
Dance and ballet, horse riding, sport, music and other experiences that build confidence, participation and simple joy.
The whole family, not just the child
Caring for a child with special needs can be exhausting and lonely. We create spaces for parents to connect, rest and remember they are not alone. The Village is for the whole family.
Partnerships that reach further
Professionals share expertise. Businesses open doors. Volunteers give time. Ordinary people quietly give what they can. Sometimes it is financial, sometimes a skill or an introduction, sometimes simply the question: “How can I help?”
2025 — around 30 children
Support given on a needs basis as needs arose, without a formal programme.
2026 — the AOK Tutor Centre opens
Homeschooling begins and a small group of children start learning together, while we keep connecting families with support beyond the centre.
Our vision: Kindness Villages
Our long-term vision is to create Kindness Villages — caring communities where children with additional needs and their families find support, opportunity and belonging.
A Kindness Village is more than a building. It is a network of families, therapists, educators, medical professionals, businesses, volunteers and community members who share one belief: every child deserves the chance to grow, participate, belong and be valued.
We know this vision will take time and resources. We cannot build it alone. It starts with one person choosing to care. One relationship. One child. One family. One act of kindness. And then another.
That is how a Village is built.
Come walk with us
You don’t have to be an expert. You don’t have to give a fortune. You can simply choose to care.
